Happy Father's Day and Happy Birthday to Alex!!

We had a neat Father's Day treat, our Stake here in Iowa had a special Stake Conference with Elder Richard G Scott, Alex was a little hard to keep entertained enough that we could listen but we still really enjoyed hearing his advice, direction, and most of all his powerful testimony!

Alex's 2nd birthday was Tuesday--he has been waiting for this day for months and the past few weeks has been asking about his 'happy to you' and presents--he was glad that it finally had arrived! It's hard to wait, especially when you're turning 2! We decided to do a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme this year as it is one of his favorite shows. (It's so fun to watch him watch the show and say hello to all the characters during the 'role call', and to dance along to the 'hot-dog' song at the end.) One of the characters that he really enjoys is Toodles, who brings the Mouseketools when they need them along the way. (Wouldn't it be nice to have your own toodles to have exactly what you need, when you need it, and you don't have to carry it or remember to put it in your purse?--He has planned for every eventuality! Or, as my dad would say, at least the script writers did!)
I planned to make a cake shaped like Toodles, it was a little more difficult that I was planning since Alex decided that he wasn't going to take a nap and thus, Savanna didn't get a good nap, so I did most the decorating while putting Alex back to bed 100 times and holding Savanna. :) I definitely understand why grocery store cakes are so popular! But it got done.

We had the other interns over with us to celebrate. We all enjoyed watching Alex dig into his presents. That boy LOVES opening presents!! I remember his first Christmas, he was only six months old but he kept ripping and ripping happily. The best part was the exclamations of "Oh cool!" "Oh Wow" "All right!" and trying to play with all his toys and open his presents at the same time.

 A new pair of sunglasses, he's been missing his old pair for awhile now. He didn't take them off the whole night!

 The ball has Mickey and Minnie on it, when he's looking for it he asks, "Oh no, where's Mickey, where's Minnie?"

 We got him a Leapfrog's Tag Junior and a book about colors.

 Can't take his eyes off his "happy to you" cake! I asked him, "Who's that?" and he said, "Happy to you!", not "Toodles"--oh well, we thought it was cute, even if he didn't appreciate more than that it was frosted! :)

Last year, he wasn't ready to blow out any candles, but he's been practicing lately. He goes up to Savanna and blows on her hair a lot, so he was ready and did well blowing out his candles without spitting on his cake. The next day he kept asking me, "happy to you? Blow candles?" and looking at me with those big blue eyes and the sweetest little imploring look on his face. So after dinner we let him blow out his candles a couple of times before they got thrown away.

Today was Savanna's 2 months check up (it's been a busy week), she is 23" long, 10 lb 15 oz, and very healthy!  It's always nice to have things checked out and to know that she's doing well and is healthy! We still have to take her to get her immunizations done :( 

So one last funny story from this week. I was changing Savanna's diaper on the floor and Alex came up behind me and wanted a horse back ride, well he kept jumping on my back and sliding down (since I was sitting up and not on my hands and knees) and getting very frustrated with being unable to stay on. He kept telling me, "stop it, Alex's turn"! It made me laugh!
