I just made the most amazing cinnamon rolls!! Thank you http://www.ourbestbites.com/ your 'World's best rolls' are really the worlds best rolls and rolled up with cinnamon and sugar they are amazingly even better!!
It's been so fun to see Alex's language development just soar lately. He is making sentences and adding so much vocabulary to his repertoire. And maybe even more than vocab--he's getting a lot clearer in his speech. Some of his fun words right now are 'P'angle'--for penguin, he calls flamingos turkeys, and some birds outside too. He is working on colors right now. He was building with his Duplo Lego blocks and asking me colors--he would present one and say, "green?" and I would tell him the correct color and then he would repeat it "blue, right!" as if confirming to me that I got it correct--good job, Mommy!! I had to laugh though after one that he was calling purple (there are no purple blocks in this set) and after correcting him, he looked at me and said "Purple!" really emphatically. So sometimes Mommy doesn't always get her colors right apparently! : )
Savanna is still a fairly calm and happy baby. When she gets upset though, it takes quite a bit to get her to calm down. She is smiling more and more and 'talking' her sweet baby talk. It's so fun to see more and more of her personality develop and to anticipate what this first year will bring for her.
Keith is still enjoying his internship. Friday was "Bring Our Children to Work Day" (for 8+ yr olds) so he got to help with the carnival and different activities that they had that day. He was pretty sore at the end of the day--he spent a good chunk of time at the bowling part and had to reset all the pins by hand, so a lot of squatting. His legs got quite the workout! Between being carnival master and having to be there by 6 am that morning, he was glad to have the weekend to relax and recover. We've been enjoying having a gym right next door to us, plus the fact that Keith got a free membership for the summer as part of his employment with General Mills. I got a discounted 'rider' membership, so we've been taking turns going to the gym at night after Alex goes to sleep. Keith is gearing up for the 2nd Annual "Night of the Running Dead" zombie themed 5k this Fall. I am just trying to shed a few baby pounds.
One fun perk of working for General Mills has been the cereal, fruit snacks, and t-shirts Keith's been given. In the three weeks we've been there he's gotten 5 shirts, 4 boxes of fruit snacks, 4 re-usable bags, and 6 boxes of cereal. So all in all, pretty good for the first month of work!
We've been getting to know the other interns better too. We've gotten together and done potluck dinners twice already. They think Alex and Savanna are great and offer to babysit everytime we see them. Alex is starting to warm up to them, he's still pretty shy around strangers (sidenote on that--he is really doing awesome in nursery these days--we got a comment today on how much they enjoy having him in there).
The last intern arrived yesterday (there are seven total) and she is the lone person outside of this complex we're in (apparently the previous tenents left the apartment she was supposed to get unlivable)--she's pretty sad about that but plans to visit often.
I'll have to upload some pictures soon of our adventures!
It's nice to get positive reports from nursery. They told me that Jaden doesn't like to share.
