O, October!

Well another month has passed filled with activities, events, happenings, and not much blogging. This next month is shaping up to be quite the month in and of itself. It might have a slow start, but the end is a blowout!!

Keith is in a group that submitted an application to compete in a Human Capitol Case Competition put on by Vanderbilt's MBA program. His team was one of 12 that was accepted to compete the end of October. They will receive the case one week before the competition--the same week that happens to be when we have off to go do company visits, when we decided to go to Hannibal to visit the plant. This will make things a bit crazy around here as Keith prepares with his team virtually to begin with and then every spare moment after we get back until they leave and are gone for four days for the actual competition. So from about the 20th through the 30th Keith will be on hyperdrive and overloaded with things to do. He will also be traveling for all but two of those days. Yikes!!! What an adventure, I'm sure!

This past weekend we both went to our mission reunions which was a good opportunity to visit with some people we haven't seen in quite awhile. Mine was the 20th Anniversary to the mission being opened and we had all the mission presidents that have served there present, including the set that were there for the Kiev Temple Dedication (and most of the construction). It was great to hear about how things are going there and how the temple is already blessing the lives of the people, member and non.

Keith also was recently called to teach the 11yr olds, and I'm still in YW's.

Keith got his first taste of grading the past couple of weeks amid his own homework. That kept him busy from early morning until late at night. He got to hand them over to the professor Friday, very glad to be done, but just in time for another project to come this next Tuesday.

Thursday we get to go out to dinner with some of the General Mills recruiters as they will be in town for interviews. It will be interesting to see who gets interviews, especially since Keith has been doing 'informational interviews' with quite a few of the first years as they are gathering information and deciding where to apply. He may get requests from those chosen to interview to do mock interviews to prepare. That is one of the neat blessings of the program--being able to give back to the 'next generation' as it were. Helping them prepare, giving insights and advice. I know Keith picked the brains of many of the second years last year as he went through the recruiting process.
I got to be part of a panel for 1st year spouses in HR to answer questions about the process from a wife's perspective and what to do to help/support your spouse during the recruiting process.
Besides that, we are enjoying getting out and enjoying the fantastic weather we're having, meeting with playgroups and going for park days with friends. It's been nice to be back in town and able to reconnect with friends.

We are excited to get to go to Hannibal and see the non-tourist side of town, Keith is going to be running the "Night of the Running Dead" 5K in two weeks, Keith's sister is coming into town for a couple of days, and fall is making itself known a bit--you can see the trees up on the mountains turning bright red--I love all the fall colors and activities!! Yeah for another busy fun month!
