Abigail Alice Jones

Well, three weeks ago today, she came!! Hooray, I was NOT pregnant forever! :) Abigail Alice Jones was born May 26 at 3:45 am she was 9lb 0oz and 19" long. Keith had to talk me into accepting that I was actually in labor when I got to active labor I had had a long day of contractions on and off all day long so when they got to the 5 min apart mark I figured it would stop like they did earlier, but thankfully it was good active labor and she came without complication.

Here are my random thoughts on her and our first couple of weeks together...
Abby has been such a good baby--it's a funny thing to say and a funny thing to ask because usually we use the term good or bad as a term more for conscious behavior. She is very calm and sleeps well for a good chunk of the night. She doesn't flinch with all the noise and chaos around her throughout the day from Alex and Savanna. So all that equates to a 'good' baby! We just love her and she is a very welcome addition to our family.

Alex and Savanna both adore her. They say, "aw, she's so cute". Lately Alex has been asking me "what would happen if the baby went back into your belly...?" He LOVES to ask, "what would happen if..." questions--he's full of them--everything from what would happen if we drove up that hill and flew into the clouds, to what would happen if I hit the baby? Not that he would hit the baby-but he wants to know the consequences of actions we've told him not to do. Funny boy! Savanna's favorite sayings are "Hey you stinker!", "That's okay", "that's silly!!" She is quite the chatterbox, we started to cut the nipples off her binky's when she would have them outside of nap or bedtime. She really liked being able to cut them and would bring them out just to cut them (maybe because she got to use scissors?) and so she is now going to bed without them, but we have realized that maybe they were more of a cork for her talking than something to suck on to soothe her--at bedtime now we hear her for up to an hour in there singing and talking to herself. Alex just goes to sleep, but she's in there just jabbering away. We had to laugh when we got a "what's your 26 month old doing now?" email about language development and it said that she should be putting together 2-3 word sentences because she uses more like 5-7 word sentences all the time.

Alex's favorite thing about Abby is that she will hold his finger. Savanna loves to come and give her a hug and kiss and ooh and aww over her.

Overall I think the transition has gone really well--Alex and Savanna play together and keep each other occupied allowing me to take care of Abby.
