Sweet Tender Moments

Alex knows his mind quite well and like most young children can be quite stubborn about what he wants. Luckily he is also distractable and overall usually quite obedient.
Monday night Keith was sitting in the rocking chair in our livingroom reading the Ensign, getting ready for FHE when Alex came up and handed him one of his books and then walked away. Keith was bemused and continued his reading. Alex then came back with a second book, walked up to him again, took the magazine from him--he looked around and then brought it to me, he then returned to Keith and turned around as if to be picked up. As Alex was walking away with the Ensign Keith was telling him to give it back that he needed it, but obviously Alex felt like Keith needed something else right then, and that was story time with Alex.
It was so sweet to watch father and son cuddling down pointing out various animals (Alex's favorite part of books) and mimicking some of the actions called for in another. Alex has really picked up on having his own little 'daddy-time' each day and books are often a big part of that.
I'm so grateful to have such a good daddy for my little babies! And I'm glad that my baby can ask for some of that time and loving that we sometimes get too busy to get around to when he needs it!

One other thing that has picked up lately has been Alex's care of his baby doll. He got a doll for his birthday I think, so before we were expecting and without the intent of conditioning him or anything-he just has loved babies and dolls too for awhile. Lately though Alex will carry it and give it's hands kisses (trademark Alex) and has taken to wanting to put it down in the crib, then instruct that the lights be turned off and he makes fake sleeping noises. He also loves to play ball with the baby, he gets in the crib and uses the dolls hands to pick up and throw the ball back out to us. It makes me so excited for the day that we bring home another sweet baby for him to learn to love---this one might take a little longer before she tolerates being carried around by him or able to play ball, but I sure hope he loves her as quickly!
